I have a surface in Lightwave 3D Express for Video Toaster[2] with the texture being an rtv video clip. The video is interlaced. In the image editor, I have it set for interlaced. In the camera properties, I have it set for interlaced.
The problem:
When it renders, the object is interlaced, but the video on the surface of the object is not interlaced, so it is a bit jerky.
How can I get the video clip to render interlaced?

Im not sure if im following you completely, but let me try anyway:
If you are mapping onto a surface wich is distorted - either because of the camera lens, ancle of the surface or whatever) - then the interlacet mapping wont do you any good. The interlaced data will get blended together.
You need to deinterlace your clip and make sure it look as good as possible (like it was fullframe), and then render it normaly - but with interlace/field rendering turned on under Camera propertis.

The square object moves to the center of the screen and stops while playing video in the square. What is the easiset way to deinterlace the rtv video before rendering it in lightwave?

I dont have a Video Toaster, so i cant tell exactly what to do - but i know that the easiest way would be to simply "deinterlace" your clip - look for that word in your tool panel or whereever - im 99.9% sure its there somewhere. If you can, then choose to "interpolate" the fields.
If your square isn't too close to the camera in LW, then i dont even think you will be able to notice that the clip have been deinterlaced.
