Saw most of the streaming yesterday, 7-30-'03, and the thing that sticks out in my mind, aside from the demos, was the dude from Area 51. I saw "Children Of Dune", and loved it. One of the standout sequences was the "Stone Burner". Area 51 dude said that the artist responsable for that, recently went over to ILM.
Now dig this. When he got over there, as part of his demo reel, he showed the "Stone Burner" sequence. ILM dudes were asking him stuff like," How did you get Maya to do this," and "How did you get Maya's particles to do that?" He answered "I didn't, it was Lightwave". To which, ILM dudes said,"oh."
hehe, gotta love this stuff.
