At Preset Central I found a nice node based brick material.
Problem is it uses brick textures, so brick color is determined by texture. I would like a gradient with bump as input to determine brick color. But I'm clueless how to do this with nodes.

have you tried any of dennis p node textures? the block shader should perhaps fit your needs.
once installed you should find them under in the nodes under Rman collect/2d textures/blocks.
It has some more options than the standard brick node.

I will upload my procedural brick to presetcentral... you can take it to bits and see whats going on m8.
