Working on this helicopter crash scene. This is a test render after building the morphs and separating
the helicopter out into about 40 layers. I randomly placed a fewthings around just to get a feel for
how it's going to look.

Yo !!

Looks good 2 me.. maby a bit much like some kind of liquid. Try to brake up the suface with some bumpmaps or displacementmaps...

and the glass will brake if you crash your helicopther..

cheers,

I like it. What a shame it crashed on the landing pad, eh?

i agree with dete... the crashed helicopter looks a bit like it melted a bit away, maybe add some blackness to the textures and let's say this shot is after the inferno when the kerosine tank exploded :D (does a helicopter fly on kerosine btw?)

Actually I have to animate the whole crash, fire, fuel... the whole thing. So I'll be making another set of blackened tex maps.
The body is actually supposed to roll over onto that "squished" tank, which is why it is so flat.

And yes helicopters fly on a fuel that is very similar to kerosine.

Oh, and helicopter windows are made of plexiglass, so they don't really break very easily.

I'll have more when I hand animate this whole thing. I sure wish NewTek was shipping 8 now. those dynamics would be really handy now.

The "broken" edge of the tail boom really caught my eye as being too straight and even. It doesn't look like it was wrenched off in a crash.
