Setting the keypad keys as shortcuts

In the default shortcut key configuration, hitting 0 on the number pad will automatically switch the window between multi-pane and single-pane view. However, as far as I can see, there's no way to assign either the top-row numbers or the keypad numbers as shorcuts when starting a shortcut file from scratch in Modeler. Anyone know how to go about this?

Using LightWave 7.5, as part of the VT2 Animator's Edition.

Top row numbers are for picking layers and can't be configured to my knowledge. The keypad number can be configured by pressing ctrl+the number you want to create a viewport preset for.
