View Full Version : radiosity render differences...9.5 vs 9.3.1

I noticed that all of my scenes that used a radiosity dome / luminous object for lighting, now render much darker in LW 9.5 then they did in 9.3.1 yet the way Fprime 3 renders it stays the same.

If i boost luminosity of the surface casting a light, it blows out all the reflections way out before starting to make a difference in how bright the overall object is (diffuse of everything else). Am i missing some new 9.5 setting?

Unfortunately, I had worked and saved the scenes in 9.5 that will now not open in 9.3.1. Because they render so differently between the two versions, Im unable to get the same resuts / color from the renders between the ones rendering now, and the scenes already rendered before in 9.3.1.

What is an easy way that I can convert a 9.5 scene back to 9.3.1? I am not seeing an option in the export menu in layout. I had same issues when half of us switched to 9.3.1 from 9.0... sigh.

And yes, its bad to switch versions mid project, but the fur stuff got me excited and I droped logic for a few brief moments...

Any help is apprechiated, thanks!

Actually my experience is it's the other way round! :)

Have you tried reading http://www.except.nl/lightwave/RadiosityGuide95/index.htm exceptions amazing radiosity guide? One thing I will say is this: The settings for radiosity in 9.3.1 and 9.5 are quite a bit different, so it maybe that your old setting aren't working quite right, because they are 'wrong' in a 9.5 context. Take a look at the guide and make sure everything is set right.

It also might be some nodes in a scene acting... oddly as nodes have changed slightly in 9.5 too (try rendering nodal surfaces in fprime YOUCH! :D)
