ok, ive been fighting this problem for a while now and as IRC has turned up nothing ill throw it open to you guys.
im using lightwave on linux (kernel 2.4.20, gentoo 1.4, xfree 4.3.0) using wine (20030709).
everything works great, modeler is 100% fine. however lightwave scene editor is totally fine except one.... major problem. i can save still image (1 frame) renders as many formats, including .jpg , or animations as a storyboard, but when i try to save a scene as a .avi (many frames), on the start of the first frame being rendered i get an error: "cannot open file"
ive tryed using someone elses avi.p but to no avail.
the plugin is loaded it seems, but not working ? -- maybe this is a codec error, im not sure. what codecs do i need, and where do i get them from ? - i have divx for win32 installed on the wine system, and divx for linux installed on the linux system just in case.
ive also tryed saving the .avi in diffrent locations incase this was a permissions problem, but that didnt help either.
i know im using wine on linux but can this be treated as a normal windows problem please, as ive heard many people say their lightwave works flawlessly on linux+wine. im assuming this is a problem only related to me then as not being able to save a scene as a .avi seems rather major.
didnt really know who to ask, it might not be a lightwave thing, but more of a "the windows system the wine is faking" thing. either way, does anyone have any insight into this problem ?
-- any ideas ?
