Hi i'm another annoying LW noobie :)
I'm hopeing the solution to my question will be fairly simple...
Q: How can i make a pile of coffee beans without actually making it out of hundreds of modelled beans?
I have a bunch of beans i've just created in the modeller that could maybe be used as a tile in some way. Well, I actually want to make a basket filled with beans & it to be surrounded by a pile of beans.
Hope that makes sense ;)

Use point clone plus. You can make a bunch of points in the background, put an object in the foreground, run point clone plus, and everywhere there is a point, it will add the foreground object. You'll just have to shape the points in the background to be the shape of the pile of beans you want.

Thanks hrgiger, not entirely sure what you mean though, haven't used point clone plus @ all but will give it a go all the same ;)

I believe those tools are in 6 but I could be wrong...
Use the spray points tool to make your point. Use tools like magnet and such to shape them however you want. Put those in the background layer. Put 1 bean in the foreground layer. Run point clone plus. You will now have a bean whereever there was a point before. You can set random rotational and scale values as well so all your beans aren't the same.
The only thing I'm unsure about is whether the bean goes in the foreground or vice versa.

My copy of LW 7.5c came thisafternoon :D
Sooo many more options to play with :) will probably leave the bean scene for a bit but thanks for the advice :)
