I used the render for youtube on the VT5 speed edit and it came out pretty lossy. would Divx or anything else better better? If I do not have anything longer than 4 minutes, can I use a more high quality program.
I think the youtube is mp4 from Vt5. Is it?
So say i have a 4-5 minute program using native dv....what would be choices for better quality. thanks Ken

youtube reencodes the videos you upload anyway, so most formats will work.
for some details on youtube's quality, take a look at: http://blog.jimmyr.com/High_Quality_on_Youtube_11_2008.php

i usually use h264 or xvid codec, and encode around 1000kbps with another program... not sure about vt's included codecs, but divx or any of the other mpeg4 variants should be good.
just make sure you resize the video to 480x360 res, or 1000kbps will look pretty bad...

I have been using vimeo.com, the default quality is much better than YouTube
