I’m going to be laying a logo over a technical/Instructional animation I’m working during editing.

What I’m wondering is if there’s a way to place an image on my camera as a guide so I can see what it will cover in the scene. In a way that I can see in layout so I know where to place my camera.

I won’t be rendering the images with it though, I will turn if off before hand.

I know how to put background images in but not how to do this.

How about applying an image texture to the color channel using camera projection?

Sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm not 100% I know what you are asking...

Do you mean a foreground image over the render?

Either add a dedicated object (as CC Rider mentioned), or you can use the bg image in wireframe mode (something I tend to do a lot).

Cheers,
Mike

Under your effects tabs, COMPOSITE, the FOREGROUND IMAGE, load your PNG (or whatever file format) and use the FOREGROUND DISSOLVE.

Sounds like what you need to do is change the Camera View Background to Background Image in the Display Options panel and load up a Background Image in the Compositing Options tab.
