Hi,

Added a standalone x32 Tension, node shader,
for shading the stretch and compression state of geometry.

Animated tube with bones and Tension node,
60595

-For color mapping of Tension, simply connect the "Tension" in a gradient,
with colors ranged between -1.0 and 1.0 values.

-"Tension" output has both negative compress and positive stretch value.

-"Stretch" output is the positive stretch value.

-"Compress" output is the positive compress value.

-Tension Node is located in "DP Kit/Shaders" folder.

Not fully tested,

Best regards,
Denis.

Tension node has been added to DP Kit,
in both x32 and x64 versions, beside some
fixes in Nearest Point node mainly related
to displacement node editor usage.
http://perso.orange.fr/dpont/plugins/nodes/Additionnal_Nodes_2.html

Thanks to Marvin Landis for the x64 update,
Denis.

Hmmm. I cant find tension in node list?

dpont

Yes,...sorry, I guess you are x64,
I missed to update a file in the source,
this will be fixed soon.

Hmmm. I cant find tension in node list?

This is fixed,
the x64 version has been updated by Marvin,
please re-download,
for safe installation,
remove and re-add the DP Kit plugin.

hey denis

trying to use this node and it just keeps crashing for me everytime win32 931 and 95.... am i missing something?

Content?...
May be a few one or two point polys in your mesh?

Denis.

I have fixed the two-points poly issue in the x32 DP Kit version,
http://perso.orange.fr/dpont/plugins/nodes/Additionnal_Nodes_2.html
Please confirm (or not) if that solves your problem too.

Is it possible to make this node read the deformation after bones
to drive displacement? Obviously LW crash when it hits the infinite loop,
but i think if it's handled in "layers" it could work out.

That would be great for muscles and joint fixes.. :)

This kind of thing can only be set
in the "Displacement Node Editor Order"
if you are using the node in this node editor.

OK... ive got it... my fault... Ur node uses up a lil bit of RAM to work (duh...) and I was testing on a reasonably high subd object.. the crash is only happening once i hit my ram ceiling... with the sub d level turned down, and ram usage lessened... ur node works just fine.

ta much.

Hm.. No luck so far. The latest version did fix the crashes tho,
but when feeding it the into the displacement node gives no result
at all, regardless of subdivision and displacement order settings.. :/

yeah same here.... ive tried wiring it into the amount for a vector scale node, and as a contrast input for a colour tool on the displacement maps UV image node, neither seem to do anything... is there a certain way to do it... displacement order, etc?

Denis, is there a way of making a SMOOTHING deformer for the displacement node editor?
to smooth and relax a poly mesh.. That would be very useful indeed

dpont

Actually I can get effects in the Displacement node editor,
but with a different evaluation function, that why also
I made specific displacement nodes like Poly Move node,
so I need to study it more to know how implementing this.

Smooth geometry algorithm uses Laplacian function
through much than one cycle to get visible results,
it a bit heavy for a displacement plugin which would
correct previous displacement, that's why it is
more used in Modeling process.

Seems that the last x32 DP Kit compiles broke
MDD file path for both MDD nodes,
please redownload the last (07/15/08) x32 version.
Sorry for trouble.

thats a shame. it would be really handy.

It would be exceptionally handy...especially if the effect could be controlled by weight maps (ie. like in MAX/XSI).

dpont

...Speaking of nodes,
you can always control by a weight map,
or you don't ?
