I have a slew of show intros and closers that were used when we were a 4:3 production house. We are now using 16:9 cameras, which have native 16:9 CCD chips and capture at 853x480 into the DDR.
I took the original graphics (640x480) and brought them into FCP to fill in what would be pillarboxes. I exported the intro as 853x480. The DDR sqeezed them vertically so the woman in the picture looks short and fat.
So I brought it back and accounted for the square to rectangular pixel issue, making the intro 853x533. Looked exactly the same.
Tried it again with 720x405. Same thing.
What dimensions do I have to create graphics in so that the DDR will display them properly in 16x9 mode?
