O.K. I know that Rockets and Rubber Balls are the easiest things to model But I've been away from lightwave for two years so I'm trying to get my hand back (that and the last version I worked with was 3.5 on my Amiga)
I'm having trouble with Textures so tell me what you think. and any suggestions

(I think that the Thrusters on the upper body need to be larger)

The procedurals you had on the first image were a good idea, just give them a very low opacity so that they add to the "depth" of the texture without being too obvious.
Toss in some 3-point lighting so we can see the object better (a simple object like this -- you could also do a skydome radiosity rendering pretty quickly for a little cheap "ooh" factor).
And you need a little more geometry on the tip of business end to smooth it out.

Welcome back to Lightwaving, by the way...
