I have moved 2 SATA 300 gig video hard drives from a XP Pro system to a new computer with Vista OS and I can't iniate the drives. The only option in Disk Management is to convert Dynamic volumes to Basic which will format the drives and I'll lose all the data on them. Is there away to get these drives working in my new Vista system without losing my data. I've installed
Speed Edit on this computer. stephen@aaronvideo.com
Hmm the drives should be compatible as is with Vista I have done it many times personally. Are you sure the HDs weren't in a RAID configuration? That is something that cannot usually just be plugged into a new system. You would have to copy the data over then redo the RAID array on the new system and then copy the data back onto the new RAID array.

If you right click on the long line representing the drive, not the small square on the left do you see 'Import Foreign Disks'?
