I use the Video Toater as a live switcher and wednesday it crashed and I had to do a clean exit and reopen toaster.
When It came back we switched back to live right away. Then i went to load all of the separate things we use, such as toaster vision windows and finally CG Player.
Why does CG Player default to ON when it is loaded?????! WHY?
It defaulted to that terrrible looking green and yellow weather type thing that showed up on our Television Station.
Is there a way to change the default of that, so it does not go on right away? So that I can open CG Player, choose the appropriate CG file, and then display it?
Thanks for any help with this.
I've also had that problem during a live switch and although i haven't figured out a cure for it, i've found a way to cheat.
Just before we go live i bring up all the toaster windows that we'll be using during the shoot including the Cg player with the titles loaded and the DDR with the effects and clips then i exit the toaster saving all the changes. (It helps to be on a generic CG title when you do this). Usually after i've done that i shut down the whole pc just to be safe and do a restart.
When i reopen toaster all those windows come right back up where i left them with all the files open in the DDR and the CG player and with the same sources on the switcher etc. If the toaster crashes during the switch i restart it - but not a clean restart I.e. when that message comes up asking if you want to do a clean restart i say no. (Sorry i can't remember the exact message and I'm not in front of the toaster at the moment). When the toaster restarts everything comes back just as it was on the last saved exit - so if the CG title comes up its the one i was on THEN (i.e. the generic). - and no more embarassing weather window.
I haven't found that doing it this way makes the toaster less stable when it restarts. I've never had it crash again after restarting this way.

this would work but...
My BOB gets "disconnected" a lot and I have to do a clean exit. when I come back I have a stupid:mad: default CG there. And the CG is on the screen. Why???!!?!?!?! Talk about UNPROFESSIONAL!!!
It would not be so bad, but when you load CG Player, it defaults to ON THE SCREEN!!! There has to be a cure.
I searched for *.cg on my computer and didn't find that cg file so I could change it.
Where is this thing!!!?!?!?!?!?!
This is totally unacceptable.

These are valid concerns, and they've been passed to Engineering.
I'd suggest you use a DDR to display CG pages, which avoids all these issues.

Thanks Paul
Sorry to be so "loud" about it, but I like the toaster and want it to work right so that I can recommend it to others.

If you can locate the default CG page that it loads, you could make your own Startup CG page and replace the default one with your by naming yours to the default name.
I see you said you can't find it, maybe Paul can check into this and tell us where it is located.

It's hard-coded into CG player, I believe.
