While Canon's HG10 might rightly be deemed a rather earlier implementation of AVCHD in video recording camera units, your posting the link to this article here, is certainly a welcome gesture, Verlon.

Its premise squares with some concerns I've had for some time now. The leading video electronics manufacturers quite literally seem to be eeking out AVCHD performance in their camcorder products, only bit by bit.

Going to read up more on this, as I WAS planning on purchasing a 3chip AVCHD camcorder very soon, but one thing I had noticed in the afore mentioned article was that the HDV footage was at 1440x800i, whereas the AVCHD footage was shot at 1920x1080i. I can't help but wonder what difference the increased screen resolution makes in their test.

Shame, though, because I was thinking that the AVCHD footage with the higher res would result in better footage.

Sorry, that should have read ""1440x1080i" in the previous post.
