Hi

I would like to know if T3 will support timecode before 0. I dont know the tecnical name.

I mean timecode before 0, timecode like this 23:59:45:15. I use this to make a Master tape for SPOTs in Tv here I put Bars starting at 00:00:00:00 and the spot at 00:02:00:00.
To start record anything in time 00:00:00 I need 5s in pre roll.
I hope you understand :)

Thank you

Jose Anselmo

I'm not absolutely positive how it is accounted for timecode-wise (say, in an EDL), but items before 0 show up as negative values in the spreadsheet. They certainly play, and the funciton is permitted precisley for the reason you state.

Hi Steve

I don't know why certain programs like Tedit and SpeedRazor see the timecode before 0 in negative way.
Because the Betacam recorders see the timecode before 0 like 23:00:21:12 and negative timecode is incompatible with the betacam format.
So, why put the negative timecode instead of the loop of 23:59:59:24 + 1 frame =00:00:00:00?
I think nobody do a project with 25 h in length, why the need of -/+ infinite?

Jose,

Just a personal note on this subject. We used to use 00:00:00:00 years ago as the Sony Editor could handle it but ran into other gear and software that wasn't happy with it.

We changed our SOP (standard operating procedure) to TC Stripes start at 58:40:00. We lay Bars From 59:00:00 to 59:45:00, then slate and all our reels (Masters, Spot Reels, Work Reels, etc.) have the first PGM video start at 1:00:00:00.

As far as what code VT3 is using, it really doesn't matter because you use 'Print To Tape' and you can set you layoff deck to anything and the Timeline will start at 0.
