I recently came across this short article thing on how to make these monkey tokens, and I need a few tips on texturing that the article didn't cover. (http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/tutorials/surface/SurfacingCoin/index.php
First, I'm guessing that you'd UV unwrap the coin and then export it to Photo Shop. I'm a little confused about what to do next. (I'm just messing around trying to see if I can recreate the coins.) If I have a picture of metal that I'd like to use for my color map, should I paint it just over the parts of the coin? I mean, does it matter if I go "outside the lines," so to speak?
My next question is, do I have to save my bump map and my color map in the same file? (I'm just checking, I believe they should be seperate?)
Thanks for the help, I'm new at this.
