Render (hobby) Farm: Mac G5 and G4

I have an old G4 that still runs pretty well, and was thinking about networking it with my G5 and setting up a micro-render farm. My questions are:

1-Is there going to be a noticeable increase in render times just having the two computers networked?
2-How should I go about this? I’m not asking for all of the details, as there are lots of tutorials out there, but from a Mac+LightWave perspective is there a specific method I should follow? If there are any exceptional tutorials out there, please share.

I have done it, and it caused me a little grief but after some experimentation I ended up with fairly stable ad decent render farm.
I used Renderfarm Commander, and a tutorial from worms of art...

the main issues I had, was that plugins that work fine on OSX 10.3.9 don't seem to be found by a machine using 10.1 or 10.2.
there are also some minor issues with the OSX 10.3 allowing the G4 to have access. the G4 is a tad slower, but overall when you need to get rendering done and work at the same time every CPU helps :)
