How to use splines

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but:
I'm trying to learn how to use splines, but I can't find out how. I've looked in the Lightwave manual, but I can't find it in there either. (Maybe I'm not looking on the right place)
I was wondering if someone could please tell me how to use splines.
I'm not even sure if I'm clicking the right button to make them. I'm used to point modeling.

That's okay, also check Spline Gods site, I've got a link in there to it somewhere. He has some free video tutorials which are quite popular with the folk round here.

Yeah Spline God courses are pretty good too from what I hear.
