I had been working on this for a Fan film and well it is done enough for the finished thread. There will be more later. I will post it here since it no longer fits into the WIP threads.

Well, first problem I see is the depth of field. It almost looks as if your craft is a cutout or if it is very small. Fix that and it'll be fine!

I should have clarified in the first post - not thinking about it, your comment brought up a good point. The ship is LW, the backdrop is ingame for EVE. While it is both possible to use for the final fan film, it will probably not be. Most fan films are all in game. This one will be mostly external. There may be a few flat screen images used, nebulae, and what not, but in the end the inside of the station will be an actual model. The blur was added to knock some of the pixelated edges off and also to make it more interesting than a black background.
I will be sure to post the completed station image too when done in a week or two.
Thanks for the comment.

The following image uses an in-game backdrop of a planet so that the ships can be offset from something more than just black. The Mammoth Industrial is the most recent completion. This images demonstrates the scale. Next up is the station - then on to the some green screen filming.

Nice! I'm a huge Eve-Fan.
Can you show some AO-renders so we can see the model better?
Cheers, Florian

While I realize this is not the AO image set- I have not been rendering for a while, just model building. So I could not for the life of me remember where the setting was. So I will have to get back to relearning some of the studio options. But in the mean time, with understanding you want to see the model more clearly - I rendered it with flatter lighting, took the textures, spec, dif, gloss, and bump off, and made it as neutral as possible.
Some notes on this model - you may notice repeated patterns. And this model may seem a little more simple that is looks in the original image. Since the object in the end will be in motion, there was no need to go over board on detailing. And, I am not above sticking cannibalized parts on it to hurry the process along. I learned after the last experience that perfection is not always the best option. I only had the evenings in the last two weeks to build it [personal goal schedule for the fan film]. Granted it has some of my own design styles in it, but for the most part is should be readily recognized by EVE players. I did buy one in game as a reference [yes I am an EVE nerd:thumbsup:]

Since it would only allow me 5 images at a time - here are the two full ones.

I finally got off my butt and started working on the station, the one that is not the flat matting like the original Rifter image. I decided on a station tunnel system that would be constructed as the builder determined needed, as they burrowed into the asteroid's core. So there is repetition, from the pre-fab tunnel segments. While I am still working on lighting and DoF, this is close enough to call done.
I plan to start animating this in the next few days, I still need to build the docking section they are going to, then we [my friends and I working on this will post the prequel, which will just be known as "Dock Procedures" This will be the teaser for what is to come.
Hope you all like it, sorry to the Minmatar pilots... at this scale the duct tape and love are not visible.

This is going to be the final post for this thread. The rest will be online when the site goes up. For now, this is really more or less a done frame. Other than lighting [which may change a little and animation, not much else we are going to do until post.]
The Fan Film website is...
http://www.eve-legacy.com [it is not up yet] Three weeks until it is online.
Thanks for those who have been looking at this post and commenting along the way.
Enjoy this last image as a potential wallpaper if you want, hence the 1920x1080.

I have about 20 seconds of animation now. But this is a good image set so I am posting it - so figured I would post it and a few other angles.
Once done - then this will all be on its own website.

Renders look great and the detail on the models is awesome.

It is done, at least all the CGI - this is the last scene. We are now on to the Live action stuff. Will start a new thread when that is all done to place stills from the post processing there.
