I'm working on a new animation sequance. Been away from Lightwave sinse version 5.6 and am a little overwhelmed at some of the new features. This render is currently taking 4 hours for the first frame and then 3.5 with Cacheing turned on. Any idea's on how to speed that up?
Thanks,
Scott

Yeah, go to http://www.respower.com and let them do all of the rendering. Otherwise, I would say, turn radiosity off! And, you could reduce polygons and bake your surfaces.

Hmm... you may not have to take such drastic measures yet. First, it's best to evaluate why it's taking so long. How many polys in the scene? How many lights, and what kinds? What are the radiosity settings? I'm not sure, but it looks like for your scene you may be able to fake radiosity... honestly, when I first saw the pic, I had a hard time telling radiosity was even on. (The only area where it's obvious is up there in the rafters.) A lot of that is the light and texture settings. So, you may find that you don't even need radiosity.

I would say just turn radiosity off - Idont think it adds much to this scene , its quite dark. I would replace the light coming from the rafters with spotlights shining down.
Or Bake the radiosity into a texture map for the surfaces. ( render one long radiosity pass and then use the texture map instead - greatly sppeds up rendering).
