Doing what, exactly? Rendering? And is that the UB?
Yup, Universal Binary
LW 9.3.1
exact same on both.

did you use all 8 cores when rendering on mac? in my experience there shouldn't be such a big difference in render speed with the same scene between both platforms for LW 9.3.1. what GI settings did you use? can we see a screenshot?

I just hit render and waited. I hope it using all 8 cores.
I also did a Modo test...same setup
xp - render time 1 min 28 sec
osx - render time 1 min 45 sec
much more similar

Hi,
That's not so great. Can you send me the scene?
FWIW, the render calculations should be nigh identical between platforms, so if you're seeing this, there's something very wrong happening somewhere.

Looks like LW was set to 1 processor in OSX...so, nevermind.

I'm... glad to hear it ;-)
Also, please join the Open Beta--I am curious about the render times there, but we can't discuss that anywhere except the OB forums.

Hey Kane,
You have me interested now...can you make another test with all processors running so we can see the results :D

Of course post in Open Beta.
I tested it again...it only took 10 seconds longer on the osx side...so, no real difference.
