Hello all!

Here's a little Kray render I just finished, it's originally little larger, but I liked it cropped this way so here it is...

Yes, it was commercial "re-rendering process" of old Fprime images, in result of having to do some minor changes also for the model...

C&C most welcome, as always!

Once again I am seduced by Kray's rendering capability!

:D

Wow Pheidian, that lighting & textures just shine. I think to have a realistic scene you've obviously gotta have good lighting, but also textures that are believable, and you've got both there. Nice work!

Can you have active nodes or shaders in Kray? Or is it the same as FPrime where you cannot use nodes or shaders?

There are still some minor issues with nodes, but basically when it's done, all nodes and shaders are working fine. Some nodes do work already just fine.

Fprime does access nodes which effectively makes shaders obsolete as nodes are just about unlimited.

Pheidian, are these Evermotion sofas you use? The are modelled really well.

Love the chopped logs btw!

Really smart!!

Thanks guys! Yes Iain basically all models I use nowadays are evermotion models, no reason spending hours and hours in modelling those details (only in custom work where client really wants something exact interior design).

Too right. I hate modelling furniture. It takes me as long to do a sofa as it does to do a full building!

Iain, then why can't I see any dielectric effect in my FPRime renders?

Iain

Is it Fprime 3.0?

Pheidian

It's true Fprime can do nodes and stuff... But on the other hand, Kray handles normal surfaces VERY nicely, like normal glass surface without need of air polygons or anything, mostly because we can run it with recursion (GI bounces) of 30 without a problem... In result we get very nice looking reflecting glass and other surfaces...

Yes Iain, FPrime 3.0, the latest!

For example, I did a glass blob test, it came out as a dark, piece of glass in FPrime, no dielectric effect. A regular LW render came out fine.

Any suggestions anyone? :stumped:

Beautiful job, Pheidian! My only crit is... well... hmm... I don't have any.... ;)

Do you use specific model packages from Evermotion? how do they work with Lightwave; do they come in textured? do the models need clean up?

I've basically bought all the volumes from the set Archmodels. They're very cheap, like 150 USD / Pack, and bundle packs are even more cheap trough trinity.

Some models are better than others, newer model packs are very good quality.

This is where I've ordered the stuff from:

http://www.trinity3d.com/

Some models don't have textures, but have UV maps applied, and some models need to be ran trough accutrans 3D to fix some layer stuff, but basically it's not that big of a deal...

^very cool! I'll look over the site. Thanks for the link!

Didn't something change in the dielectric materials so it doesn't need air polys(the volume stacking thing) so now they behave differently, as the latest f-prime doesn't know about this feature does it? Or am i wrong and it's only the pre-process materials that don't work?

It's any nodes that use the pre-processing method to speed up rendering.
