Updating Surfacing and Textures

Poor puppy me is having problems I've just updated my Pee Cee to LW 7.5 but none of the surface files from 5.0 will load. Is there a trick to converting my surfaces or do I have to start all ocer again from scratch? :confused:

you need to load the surface as an object in modeller, then you can save it as a new surface type...I'm not in front of my lightwave right now but its something as simple as that...
can anybody give more specifics?
