Error when I clear a scene

I keep getting an error when I clear a particular scene file that reads as follows:

Assertion (index < num_elements) failed in "imp-fromynarray.h" on line 817

Does anybody havea clue what that means? Everybody should know that this scene was originally created on a PC with Windows XP and then worked on slightly on a Mac with OSX.2. Currently, the error happens on the Mac. I do not have access to a PC.

Might be some sort of PC-plug in or external file with the wrong directory delimiter?

I seem to remember in 7.0 that some of the original components of spreadsheet were called 'imp'. I wonder if the message relates to an issue with spreadsheet and that if you open up the scene file and remove the spreadsheet entries at the top of the file with a text editor, it might remove the problem?
