Finally I have some idea how to model in lightwave!

I have spent hundreds of hours of trial and error trying to build this 1969 Camaro. This will be my first object I have ever done in Lightwave or any type of 3d. What a mission! I bought Lightwave 16 months ago with no 3d experience. I have been so frustrated with this program for many months.
I still have a long way to go before Im able to do everything I imagine doing with Lightwave.

This is the most amazing piece of software I have ever seen!
Im hooked. The down side is all my free time is busy with 3d modeling. My social life is at zero!

This was my first test render I just wanted to see how my camaro was going to look. I sill have to do much more modeling to complete this car.

Sandman thanks for your help and inspiration with you Mustang!
That tire tutorial you made was great. Im going to try to make some wheels this weekend. I just cant decide on wheel type. Maybe Cragar S/S or factoryl camaro rally wheels?

CA Clark thanks for all your suggestions and help. Your vehicles are at the top of the game. I subscribed to 3DCreative Online Magazine. Your Turorial on the Veron is awesome! Just what I needed to learn.

Larry Shultz Keep making videos! I have almost all of them. How about a Node Video?

Thanks,

Lance

Glad you're having fun!

Model is looking good so far. Looks like you may have some stray two-point pollies in there. You can get rid of them by selecting pollies with only 2 verts and delete them.

The should get rid of some of the spots that have the white lines along the edges. Though that could be spots were the verts aren't connected and need merging/welding.

Damn. I wish my first model in LW was that cool... I think mine was a character consisting of a ball with a pyramid hat. :D

The more I learn the more I need to know.

At least I can see a few test renders at this stage. I spent months with nothing to show.

I have spent to many hours working on this camaro. I need to get a life.

Still want to do the door lines, door handles, window chrome etc.

Anybody have a suggestion on how to model head lights with all the refraction lines?

Still have lots of problems with the bodylines tward the front of the car and the rear valance is not quite right.

To help with the scene for rendering I downloaded LightBitch from Flay.com. It sets up a real nice light set up using the info from an HDRI image. this also gives you something for the chrome to reflect which makes it work well.

Here is one of my cars rendered in LW using the LightBitch plugin.

Hope that helps... and keep at it... I too have been learning lightwave for about 2 years and it is addicting! I to am self taught. That is possible thanx to the great LW community

Dude have you done any more vehicles in that style? I would like to see them.

That is really cool! Thats what I want to do when I get better with lightwave.

zapper1998- You are lucky to have a 69 camaro, back in the day.

I think the 69 and 70 camaros were the beat looking camaros ever built. They are both so different but really great body lines. I had a 73 camaro in 10th grade in 1985. Fun times!

I still have a 1969 Ranchero and a 1969 Mustang Conv.

social life? what is that?

A social life is what all the sad people without LightWave need to fill their meaningless lives.

Or was that the other way round, I can never remember...

Glad you're having fun with the modelling, looking forward to updates :D
