How do I create a transparent background on an animation, export the movie and bring it into Adobe Premiere Pro so that the background stays transparent without haveing to use the Keying effects in Premiere.
Thanks

Make sure you export to one of the formats that support an alpha channel. Formats that have a 32 on the end have an alpha channel. I beleive there are a couple that do not have a number that include the alpha channel as well.

If you're rendering out to a QT animation try using PNG or Animation making sure to set it to millions of colors+ (The + is the Alpha or transparency channel). I don't know which .avi codecs have an alpha channel.

It's a better practice to render out to an image sequence instead of a .mov. That way you won't lose everything if the computer crashes or you lose power. They are easy enough to turn into an animation (you can use LW to do it if premiere won't).

Also, you could save the Alpha channel separately (two spots below the save animation section), but I think that only save image sequences and you'll have to figure out how to use that in premiere.

I just assumed it was a still background. Though it will still work for a sequence. As for the avi format, from what I have gathered so far it is best to use uncompressed for the codec. Though Newtek's codec for speedEdit does support the alpha.
