hi everybody
I need to import files from Autocad 2000. I tried dxf import plugin but with no good results. I end up either with lines instead of polys, or polygons flipping errors.
Is there a good plugin that does the job properly? or can LW import DWG files?
I just did a search of the forum (bottom right of most pages) for 'dxf':
"export from autocad 2000 as autocad r12 DXF format file. you might have to scale up or down to translate between autocads coordinate system and lightwaves."

thanks for your reply, but that,s the way am doing it. I end up with lines instead of polys ( 2 points polygons). :(
errr.
Is there an older dxf file type that you can save to? How about trying Layout as well as modeler? I did this a year ago, I have to think there's something wrong on your machine
How big is the file? If you can post it on the web I'll see if my machine can do it

Yeah the versions usually is a problem,
I've had most luck with 11/12 (but I'm usually exporting from Microstation)
there is an updated version of the dxf importer available on Flay from D-Storm called Import DXF 2, you could try that also.
I cant remeber ACAD too well, but I think that you should Explode solids first so that they become shapes or faces or closed polylines (I cant remeber the term)

Why don't you try to export it as 3ds

If you need to do that sort of thing often, check out a converter/tool like Polygon Cruncher or Okino PolyTrans... They handle both formats and you manipulate the model/textures in between...
