recovering .vtp that won't open

a project I am working on suddenly won't open. Nor will any of the UNDO/REDO projects.

When it opens I simply get the "SPEEDEDIT HAD ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE" message.

Is there a way to recover an unstable project?

Are you double clicking the vtp or drag n drop to the timeline?

you could try to load the the *.vtp version like a clip in a new timeline, than expand the subproject. Worked for me in a similar situation, oh boy if not would have probably lost a big client. Thanks to the programmers of newtek who made this work around possible ;-)
