Hi Guys,
I have the old version of Lightwave 9.0 and so far I did't have tried to render interiors ..however now I did and found out that MOnteCarlo Radiosity gives impossible to use render times and Global radiosity can not be used to for interiors too .., so for me let say impossible to have realistic GI render this way :( , ..I came upon the new version of Artlantis though a very simple features the preset GI and radiosity inside gives good render times and not bad results ..
so I am just trying to see...if I can render an interior defuse pass for example in the Artlantis and get the colour pass from LW ( as texture and mapping in Artlantis is a problem ..) ..BUT I can't fugure out the xyz system in Artlantis to make it match the camera and object in both programs :( anyone has any ideia if that is possible ..it seems to me that it might not be ...
Here I tested the radiosity in that program and get that ( haven't setup any materials , just hit render ) that I got for not more than 15 min..
Otherwise here I found some good works done with Artlantis..

Well, you should try adjusting your GI settings, to decrease rendertimes.... and why don't you just download the latest version 9.3 from your registration page?

And perhaps try Final gather rather than Monte Carlo if speed is crucial :) Interpolated of course.

@3Djapanese - you're overcomplicating things. Use the lights properly (that means NOT like they're used in real life) and GI will come out just fine. Search this forum for some great examples in architectural lighting.
But main thing to remember is that in general, you can't light up a scene like this in LW by just one light. Also, treat the bounces like accessory, not like the main method of lighting a scene. That won't work.
And if you can, get FPrime too, it will speed up the lighting and testing process tremendously.
Artlantis is very crappy piece of software compared to LW.
And get the latest LW update (that's 9.5 in a few days) - updates are free, after all.
Oh, and get this book (http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Lighting-Rendering-2nd-digital/dp/0321316312/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204021152&sr=8-1). It's probably the only book you'll need on this matter.

this scene looks like it is made to be rendered by kray. Send it to me and I render it for you in a jiffy.

Erwin give me an email i will send you the scene ...will be curious what u will get as time....otherwise yes k I will try the updates :) but lets say that I just saying that 9.0 is the one that I think it is impossible to get that result ..well yes if I start to set up and spend a lot of time I can simulate any radiosity but that is too time consuming and the result wouldn't be better that that what u see from the Artlantis ..
other wise if anyone is willing to prove the opposite make something better with LW 9.0 that will render anywhere close to that in time and same quality set up is welcome to show his try though i don't believe it ...
Artlantis is not crap I find it veru usefull and easy to use program for architects that u can get great results without even knowing anything about 3d ..
:) LW 9.0 I am talkking about ok I know the updates will do better with the final geathering ..

here it is back, why didn't you zip your LW scene? Now I had to remake it... ;)
I used original 3ds colors and only added skydome with sunsky plus ground and one spotlight as sun, you want a very low sun so the sky is evening too.
This should take about 5 min on my Q6600 3Ghz quadcore. I can tune that down but for test I took safe high settings, fast enough anyway.
Now bring on 9.5 beta! :)

Upgrade to 9.3.1 and use FG interpolated with the right settings. See my signature for a radiosity guide.

Artlantis is very crappy piece of software compared to LW.
Gross generalisation that, Artlantis isn't crappy, it's fast and intuitive. For architectural type work.
