Hi !!
I'm looking for a tutorial or any information about the making of a mesh 3d using photo (mountain, canyon, hill ecc...).
example : I would cast the shadow of a 3d plane on the my background (photo or video of mountain or canyon). All will be used in compositing so the mesh doesn't need lot of details.

sorry 4 my english

I don't think I quite understand - you would use the photo as a backdrop in modeler and model over it, what else did you need?

I need to cast a shadow on my background using the compositing, but my background isn't flat (mountain, hill, trees ...)
So I need to model the geometry of my bacground only for the shadow.

Do you know how to put backdrop images into Modeler? I can't think of any other way, it would help to have side-views of the things you need to model

Model the mesh roughly. Make the mesh hidden from the camera so that only the shadow will be seen falling on the mesh. That's all there is to it.

Chapter 18 (Compositing and Rendering) of the Inside Lightwave 7 book shows you how to do that... (I am just starting chapter 10, but can't help browsing to see what is coming...) ;-) Looks like you use lower res stand-ins...

Just in case you are looking for more info...
