Hi all
I'm texturing my Rhino and have created a few procedural textures to use as the base layers. I'd like to control how much these textures are used particularly on the ears, horns etc and was thinking that an alpha map would be the way to go.....but how to do it??
Is it just put into the texture editor as another layer?
Regards

Hi again
I've sorted it out.....I had the alpha map in the wrong place......moved it to be directly above the layer I was wanting to control and works beautifully!!

Good!
You can add a gradient layer, which controls an aspect of underlying layers or an object property...
Another way is probably with weight maps... The tutorial on neurons show this, to apply layers of procedurals to weightmaps applied on different parts of the model.
Checkout the tutorial (it is not very long and you would need part 2 on texturing) over @ cgfocus.com
As usual, there are different ways of doing it...

Alright thanks for that!
Yeah there are so many ways to solve any problem I guess I'm just trying to work through them all so I can then decide which way is best for each given problem.
Thanks for the suggestions. Going over to CGfocus now to check it out.
