View Full Version : more than one PFX emitter on the same object - can it be done?
Every time I put a second particle emitter on an object the first emitter's settings get set to the same as the second. Do I have to clone the object?
Oh yeah, while I'm here, I always get a "polygon over particles" or somesuch error when I load up the scene file. WTF?
Probably better to put each successive emitter on it's own new null
actually the emitter is on an object, that's why I didn't want to clone it - too musch stuff everywhere. But I did, because it doesn't work any other way.
thanks

One question for you toby, since you want to introduce politics into the tricks and tips forum with your tagline...
Where are Liberia's WMDs?
is that the only reason to send troops anywhere? Are you against the US joining the UN?
What is your point? that it's ok to invade one country based on falsified evidence because we help out another country?

We had plenty of other reasons, all stated, for attacking Iraq. But if WMD is all that matters.... where's Liberia's WMDs?
The evidence was not falsified. ONE report was forged, which went through British Intelligence, and the CIA, forged by neither. And the B.I. still stand by it.
Just because the WMDs haven't been found yet doesn't mean that reason for invading was false.
But, then, you don't have that as your tagline because you were shocked to *discover* that those 16 words were based on incorrect information, do you?
So where *are* Liberia's WMDs?
We already belong to the U.N.
And as the U.N. has proven itself corrupt, and in opposition to U.S. interests, I do favor leaving the U.N., yes.
Our 'reasons' for invading Iraq had nothing to do with our security, except in the sense that conquering the world would make it safer for us.
Without WMD's, we had no excuse to invade Iraq, which is why they pushed so hard to make us believe that Iraq had them, even without hard evidence. The Inspectors couldn't find any evidence, the war's over and we still don't have anything, which proves how little or exaggerated evidence we had in the first place.
Furthemore, an envoy sent to Africa by the CIA, a former US Ambassador, reported to Vice President Cheneys' office that there were no deals with Iraq to buy uranium, almost a year before Bush included that accusation in his speech. So we conveniently believe British Intelligence before our own (who had no solid evidence either), and now we can say 'oh, well, that's what the British told us'. Very convenient indeed.
Oh, but we had 'reasons' for invading Iraq:
Make the people forget about Bin-Laden, who we couldn't find - and continues to be an actual threat
Votes! Every President who wins a war gets more votes. Sad but true.
Justify ridiculous Defense spending - our last increase, just the increase, dwarfed China's entire defense budget - and you think our safety can be threatened by Iraq?
Justify future Defense spending and bloated Military contracts to friendly, Republican-contributing contractors while artificially stimulating the economy
Use up old stockpiles of ammunition and test new technologies. Do you think Depleted uranium shells (radioactive as well as highly toxic) were neccessary against a third world nation in villages?
Raise the National Debt to the benefit of friendly Republican-contributing Bankers
and to provide an excuse for cutting spending to aid anyone who didn't have rich parents
The top 100 officials in the Bush administration have the majority of their investments in Natural Energy Resources. Connie Rice has a friggin' Oil Tanker named after her - she sat on the Board of Directors at Chevron. Bush and Cheney have both sat at the helm an energy coproration. Bush's corporation failed. The Secretary of Commerce is a Texas Oil Baron.
And Iraq has the second largest Oil reserves on Earth. What a coincidence!
Iraq was also making deals for oil with countries other than the US, to be commenced after the embargo lifted, leaving the US out in the cold, and was about to switch from the dollar to the Euro.
So many good reasons to invade!
If you think we have the right to invade any country that hates us, we will earn that much more hatred, and therefore the right to invade any country we want - this 'pro-active' BS is just another word for Conquest.
"the UN ~ in opposition to U.S. interests"
Why would the UN be in favor of constant, selfish US aggression? Other counties fight for their lives, we invade for our 'interests', meaning money. Republican economists have stated, in response to whether we should invade Iraq, that our economy reacts negatively to instability in the Middle East. Easy enough to believe, but it's NO excuse to invade other countires, even if our economy colapsed because of this instability.
We need more than a 'hunch' or 'I'm convinced' or circumstantial evidence to invade another county, especially when it involves killing innocent people in the hundreds if not thousands. That is why the UN did not support us. It doesn't make them corrupt.
Don't bother arguing what an a-hole Saddam is, that's not even disputed - but there are a dozen other Dictators as nasty, some of which the US supports, because of our 'interests'.
Fear of Terrorists may be justified, but invading countries just to feel 'secure' is not, in fact it guarantees more terrorist attacks. Israel and England have played this 'revenge' game for decades now and it's only provided more excuses for more killing. It's proven stupid.
btw, facts stated are based on public documents, not 'left wing' accusations. Opinions of course are my own.
edit
oops, when I said "join the UN" I meant join them in Africa.

Jeez guys. I thought that this was a board to discuss Lightwave just to see this political argument exploding. I came into this thread to look at the responses to a particle emitter question just to be smacked in the face with what really boils down to a he said/she said type of arguement. I do believe that there is a general discussion thread for stuff like this. Agree or disagree with the issue, if I want to read this I would go to other boards.
So to keep this short and simple, and not to be rude, quit this argument, give it a rest, and take it somewhere else. Some of us come here to escape the real world for a while.
This public service message was brought to you by the letter "Q" and the number "3" :D
sorry, I've been resisting the temptation but these guys never have private messaging turned on or accept email - I also thought this was a small, unnoticed thread, forgetting that it goes to the top when you post
my apologies
