anyone seen the interactive boolean thats demoed here?, it's towards the end of the video. Looks like a cool way to model, using the negative space approach.
I wonder if it will work with curve objects, or how complex the boolean object can be?

Cool preview vid.
I'm still using version 1.6 though. Maybe I'll finally upgrade to this version when out!!

Haven't we already got real-time booleans in LWCAD 2.5?

I wondered about that too!

I believe the difference now is you would have precise control as to how far in you want to boolean using the UCS tool... from what I can see on the video.

I guess that lwcad2.5's booleans are only thru one axis...these are completely 3d

nice new features
I am wondering if LWCAD is licensed by the Lightwave-Dongle or not, because I can not run on different computers ?
Yes it's tied to the dongle.

So long as you have your dongle, it can be installed anyplace.
I run LW off 3 machines depending on where i am, one of the things i truly love about LW. Copy the directory, grab your dongle (oo-errr) and off you go. :D

dongles suck
very helpful - thanks for that.
Personally, I love the dongle method of security. I can take my dongle and a USB drive and my LW can travel to any computer I wish to run it on.
Pagnozzi:
If LW runs fine, i'm at a bit of a loss, as I presume LWCAD also looks to the dongle as per LW. If you have any other dongle tied plugins such as Vertibevel or FPrime or such - can you confirm if these work or not?

thank you Colkai to bring me to an Idea, Why!!
... the only difference is that I have multiple dongles listed in my license key!! maybe it have to do with that,
Yeah, I've found that.
Also, worth looking to see how many lwcad configs you have in your config area. I have found clearing hem out and re-inputting the LWCAD serial / code and presets path seems to sort a lot of problems out. I once found around 11 various "copies" of my lwcad config file. Since deleting hem all and resetting LWCAD, I haven't (touch wood) had any further problems. They will all start: "lwcad2lw" (e.g. lwcad2lw9.cfg lwcad2lw14.cfg)

I just went to the Wtools website, it looks like a new promotion is starting today. Anyone who buy LWCad 2.5 gets a free upgrade to 3.0
Tempts me to upgrade my 1.5 license.

Yes, VertiBevel is tied to the dongle. You may run it on any machine you wish as long as the registered dongle is present and you have the Key Code or license file. You can always get your Key Code from our web site in the event you find yourself on the road and missing your license file. Each platform (Win32/Mac/Win64) has it's own key due to the way the LW dongles work, but you are licensed to get a key for each platform for your dongle.

yeah its is neat but its probably better to just use a serial right?
then no problems like you are having. its not like it makes it any more secure.
i think luxology decided this
Dongles can't be emailed to friends/posted on warez like serials can. It's a good compromise. Yes, it can be cracked, but it does help, especially for plugin vendors.
I personally think it would be cool if the dongle had a few gigs of memory on it, then LW could ship on the dongle and you could run it right off the dongle and have space for your content (and plugin licenses and config files) as well. I know some large studios might not like this, but for most people I think it would work well.

I suggested this same thing years ago, it was met with some confusion and skeptism it seemed.

Ahh, thought it was.
So assuming the chap has VB or such and they work, my money would be on dodgy LWCAD configs.
Jason, when are you going to release the x64 patch and DVD that I was promised when I purchased Vertibevel?
