HI !

I need help in deciding which VT bundle to to recommend. I have friend who is working in TV station but he wants to go work like freelancer and so far he used DPS and Canopus systems (at TV) but now he wants NewTek product :). I'm not too much into Video (not anymore) so i wonder what to recomend to him. We have NT distributor here in Croatia and prices are probably from NT Europe+tax+shipping+dealers price...

He needs to be able to do this:

Lets say he want's to record Basketball match at location. He goes to Basketball arena and he nedes to be able to connect 5 cameras directly in computer/VT and to be able to record that live with mixing and titles if possible (maybe times + player names??). Cameras will be BetacamSP or DvCam Pro and they all have BNC output so that shouldn't be a problem ? Court sounds would be also nice to be able to record commentary sound (2 comments max). Later he will like to do EDITING of recored material and burn to final DVD with titles and everything. So which one he needs 1 , 2 or 3 ?? Yes I knwo that most expensive one is always best but does he must buy option 3 or he can go with cheper solutions also since wiht taxes and dealr prices it's already going to be much more expensive than listed on NTE site :(.

Thanks for any help.

1 is out - without the SX-84, he will only have one video input - so that set-up is primarily for editing/post production.

Between 2 and 3 it depends on what kind of signals are coming on the BNC connectors from the cameras. If they are SDI signals, then package 3, if they are analog signals (component, most likely with the formats you list) then package 2.

Good so he will be able to record all that live action with option #2 and if he wants he can buy SX-SDI later if he needs to go SDI later ???

What about Tally ? Does all 5 cameras get tally signal ??

BTW does that setup (2 and 3) alow live titling with crawls ?

Thanks

Good so he will be able to record all that live action ...

the VT will only record the "program out" so i always reccomend putting tape in the cameras for "iso" recording.4

Yes he needs only FINAL program (mixed) so it shouldn't be a problem then.

Thanks.

...Or he could acquire the now-released 6thChannel and XtraChannel combo from Blaine Holmes, courtesy of Bob Tasa's imaginative mind. That'll enable iso-recording from multi inputs, provided the host PC is up to the task, and the needed number of XtraChannel cards were added.

Is there Any MB/COU issues with VT card ??

System specs just mention minimum RAM/CPU but not type of MBO and other stuff.

His PC is E6600 (Dual core 2.4GHz), MBO is Gigabyte DQ6 wiht 965P chipset (intel) and have 4GB 800Mhz Ram. Will that one work fine ? What about PSU - how much VT card needs in Watts ?

thanks
