Screen captures of a model I'm working on. The clothes and hair are very much place holder at the moment. I plan on posing this character on a detailed base and having a model built on a rapid prototyping machine, so the hair will be sculpted geometry for this version.

very good. one thing that sticks out to me are the wide shoulders. gotta be careful about those lats, they tend to look manly if they are too wide. typically shoulders are narrower than the pelvis on females. especially with females of such booty. The shoulders could still be tastefully wide but a little goes a long way.

Great observation. I originally had the shoulders more narrow (see attached image), but changed it. Now that I go back and look at the original I think it looks better. I guess sometimes you look at things too long and make changes for the worse.

Yup, inddeed! The first version is more natural, like Stooch very well observed!

lol i know exactly what you mean. The older versions lats are alot more natural (the shoulders could still use a bit of a push in). Ah the joy of character modeling, the tweaking never ends heh.

Nice character. The only thing that sticks out are the lips. They look a little bit like a collagen implant gone a little awry. Not that they're too big, I get the impression they're meant to be an exaggeration just like the insanely small waist. They just seem a bit misshapen.

Gotta say I've seen lot worse modeling in many commercial animation movies... Very well done! I like how you've capture the cartoony, yet human like feel to it, usually cartoony models have nothing to do with reality, I think this one still has, like arms and legs etc, though face is more cartoony, very nice indeed.

This is a very clean looking stylized model. Love the braids.

Thanks to everyone for the comments! Slowy progressing on the model when I have spare time. Here's a screenshot of my progress with the old model for comparision. On the first version, I felt like the model was too vaque on style...in some strange middle ground between realistic and stylized...seems I always have this problem with female models. So, I tweaked the face and body proportions, and made some changes to the hair. Made some big changes to the clothes...which are still pretty rough at this point. Going for a bit of a old west influence, but I think some anime/asian style is slipping in as well. Hopefully I can get the clothing figured out soon and move over to Zbrush.

Wow! Where does the time go...finally got some free time (made some actually) to work on this character again. Still far off from being done, but here are some updated renders with two different color schemes.

No texturing yet and hair is still just placeholder mesh. The pose is also a little stiff because there's no rigging...I modeled the pose as a morph target for the test render.

Thanks for all the comments! I suppose I need to rig next to make sure the mesh works correctly, then follow up with the zbrush detailing/texturing. I think this character is going to be toughest I've had to rig because of all the clothing bits and hair.

Forgot to mention this in my last post -
Right now I have the swords floating in the renders. This is where I would like to attach them...right onto the holster. Any ideas how I could do this? The sword blade doesn't taper, so it can't have a sheath...thinking there would just be a looped piece of material on the holster that they would slide into...somewhat similar to a pirate sword stuck a belt with the hilt stopping it from going all the way through.

In a weird way - especially facially - she's reminding me of Gina Torres. Which is a good thing - nice work! Can't wait to see her finished.

I'm glad to see that you're still working on this. There is something very appealing about this character. She reminds me of a few different actresses, in a cartoony sort of way. Will you animate her, when she's done?
