Hi all,
I'm having some troubles with particle emitters, as in, the particles will only show up on a integer frame. If I have an emitter moving and scrub through the a single frame, no particles appear until the next frame, then they pop into existance.
I found this because I'm trying to use dithered motion blur on a fast moving emitter so that it blurs correctly, but it's not happening as LW seems to think the particles dont exist until the next frame has been reached.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure, but I think that's one of the big gripes about current LW particles - no sub-frame calculation.....I think. I remember it being mentioned in a thread about simulating a flame-thrower.

How to get round it I don't know - I'm probably being a bit pedantic here, but are you meaning physically accurate or just visually?

Julian.

Just visually. I only really see it because I sit there and watch the frame as the lens flare moves and there are no HVs being emitted as it moves along.
It shouldn't make too much difference to me at the moment, and I just wanted to know that I wasn't being stupid - So thanks for the reply :D
This should be addressed though.

Subframe particle calculations would be nice...

A workaround is to kick your framerate up by a factor of, say, 10, then set motion blur to 10x normal values and use frame step of 10 when rendering your sequence.

Cheers weepul, I'll bear that mind if it becomes a problem on any shot.
