We have a stack of .dv files from avid xpress that we want to play in DDR.
Problem is they will not load into DDR.
Can VT3 not play this file type?
Can't get the AVI export files from avid (with cinepack or ms video1 codec choice) to work either.
Any avid > vt3 tips?

Just in case nobody responds overhere, ask in the Yahoo VTNT or sharbor forum.

The biggest problem is going to be finding people still running VT[3] ....

Ok, try this... rename to *.dif... still not working, try .avi... if not then you might have to convert them to avi file. I think there where somewhere between VT3 and 4 that *.dv started to work.

Thanks all.
the remame to .avi does not work; will try .dif.
the VT3 is patched the highest version, so i guess its batch convertion all round!
Not convinced vt5 will run on the test machine (AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Socket AM2/1GB DDR2 Memory - 667MHz with 2 drive sata raid0 for video) so its a shame you cant upgrade to vt3 > vt4 after vt5 release.

He are two examples: AVI output using ideo codec (which works best for our playout) and DV (the .AVI in the file name window is normaly .dv; just did not go all the way back to the export option before capturing the window)
Our workflow is normally direct to MPEG2 for tx and DVD so finding AVI's a pain period.

You might try putting SpeedEdit on the Avid system briefly to install the SpeedHQ codec for .avi files. Wait your VT is not on VT5. wow. You are definitely in a pickle. Maybe you could install the SpeedHQ codec from NewTek on both systems or maybe MainConcept's DV Type2 codec on both so you can not have to do as many workarounds. .dv is NOT easy for VT to deal with especially in VT3. VT does not see .dv the same as a DV .avi file.

good news!
Thanks to the help here - jeff in particular - we now have a direct export > vt3 capability for new material (still have to sift through old stuff as needed, but hey..)
Installed the MainConcept DV2.4 codec on both machines and it works. Best AVI output we've achieved from avid with dv material, so result anyway, and it plays in VT3
Installed codec in defaut windows setup on VT machine - assume we dont have to copy codec files /.dll to any VT folder?
Appriciate the time taken here to help.
It's live component video test (from a sony a1) next, so i'm sure I will back for more:)
