Lets try this. I feel like my system is underperforming. I'd like to get some perspective.
In VT5 lets put a clip of video on the timeline.
Create some simple png-cg files and begin to put them on the timeline using overlay.
How many layers including the video clip can you play without your system stuttering?
Processors?
Memory?
Harddrive Array?
Any other critical information!

Uhhh, I've got twelve of them going with no stutters, and am getting a little bored with adding layers. How many do you need?

OK, my curiosity got the best of me, and I kept on going. I got to 19 layers with no stutters. At twenty layers VT locked up on me twice. Maybe I finally hit a bug, but never got to stutters!
I suppose you want to know my config now....

Ya, I'd like to know your configuration!!!!!!!!!
Since I'm stuttering at my clip plus two layers!!!!!!!

Ron? Tell us your config, if you will -- then we might have some preliminary suggestions for you relative to your SpeedEDIT-VT performance situation...

OK. OK. I figured I'd keep you in suspense for a little while! :hey:
I just upgraded from a dual XEON 2.8GHz system, and man was it time!
The new system is as follows:
CPU: Single Intel Quad Core Q6600
GPU: Asus nVidia GeForce EN8600GT 512MB RAM silent
MB: Asus P5NT WS
RAM: 2GB Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4
Video HD: 2 Seagate SATA 750GB (operating with only one at the moment - I can play 4 layers of HD in realtime, with rendering off, from only one SATA drive).
If you decide to upgrade to these same components, do a search on this forum for the MB model. I have written quite a bit about the nuances of setting up this system.
Hmm..
I have similar parts and no where near the performance you have.
Stutter is my middle name here.
Are you overclocking the 6600?

I am not overclocking, although this MB makes it very easy to do safely. I don't think I'll mess with that though, as long as I get good speed.
