I think magic bevel is one of the more under-rated modeling tools. At first glance, it just seems like a fun toy. But as this video shows, you can achieve some nice shapes with it with a very good amount of control.
My only complaint, and this spans across all of modeler, is that once you drop the tool, you can't edit knots or any dimensions inside the numeric panel any longer. I hope that eventually is not the case...

I'm with you on that request!
Magic Bevel is really cool. I've used it some, but failed to grasp all its potential, until now, of course.
Thanks yet again!
It would be cool if we had one master bevel tool, with checkboxes inside it for all the different variations for bevel operations, along with some of the similar ones, such as Move Plus, Multishift, Supershift, and so on.

Yeah I have to agree with you as well. I think I would use the magic bevel more often if that was the case.

Question : I'm trying to load the magic bevel tool, but all attempts have failed, what am I doing wrong?
Forgive me if my question is covered in the video supplied here in this thread. I can't view it for some ftp/browser related reason. Rather than starting a new thread, thought I'd post my somewhat related question here here. I'm doing the following tutorial posted here at NewTek :
http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/tutorials/modeling/modeling/cup.html
About 3/4 of the way thru, the video shows how to load up the magic bevel tool, because by default the tool is not loaded into the multiply tab with the other bevel tools. However the vid is version 7.5, I'm using 8.0 and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm looking in : Edit -> Edit menu Layout -> Command -> Additional.
Thanks

To view the quicktime movies on the Newtek server with Internet Explorer. Right click on the link and select save target as. Allow the movie to be saved on your computer then view the movie.
Some of the tools have been moved during each version of lightwave, it is possible to find it elsewhere. However if you can not find it it may be necessary ro rescan the plugins and/or reset the menus.
In version 8 Magic bevel can be found at: Multiply>Extend>More>Magic Bevel.
Attached is a pdf on rescanning plugins and resetting the menus.
