Not particularly surprising, they're 43MB and 79MB, respectively. Might I suggest Free Download Manager?

I'm getting connection error with those two files. If I left-click, FireFTP (FireFox extension, simple FTP-client) starts up and tells me it can't connect. If I rightclick and use Save Target As, it adds the files to the download que (standard FireFox thing) but never start the download. Funny, because I just downloaded another video from the same FTP. Another annoying thing is that these two files can be downloaded using Internet Explorer. Just doesn't make sense...

I just tested the downloads and they worked fine for me.....I use IE to download even tho I use FireFox for everything else.
Weird that some people can get them and others not. They are the same format and the links are the same as I always use....maybe give them time..
They are a bit bigger then usual but I covered a hell of alot of stuff in the two files...I'd say it was worth the extra couple minutes to DL.

William, can you clear out your private messages here and at Spinquad? I just wanted to confirm the DAVE school visit. Thanks. :)

I always loved your videos.. now that I've read them.. I HAVE to try them without going step by step .. see what I can come up with.. I got ome ideas for your next group of "Project" videos :D hahaha.. but don't we all
For everyone downloading: Obviously these dont stream so it will download all of it (or most) before it starts to play.. just as a FYI

these two are really fantastic William.
had a thought/request watching you do the coil: not an obvious feature is to be able to do math in numeric input boxes. so to get the exact number of rotations on your lathe, just type in *5 after the 360 degrees and hit enter.
continued success:thumbsup:

Nice one, er... two actually. I would hate to think how long it would have taken me to model the facemask on this football helmet, if it wouldn't have been for the good ol' Rail Extrude command. You just have to make sure you start at the right end of your spline, or you can end up with some funky geometry.
tHANX William!

I talk about that a bit in my bottle threads video (http://pixelandpoly.com/video005.html) as well...
I'm always amazed at some applications that don't let you do math functions in the numeric fields.

alright, everyone raise their hand who's tried this in say photoshop, only to be greeted with a blank stare:hat:
imho, this is one of those little workflow things that make this app just enjoyable. thx william:thumbsup:

I had no idea you could add points to a polygon more than one at a time. The manual specifically says don't have any points selected before using the Add Points tool. I think it's time to update the manual. Then again if these videos keep coming we won't even need the written manual. These videos are awesome.

Yeah it is one of those cool hidden tricks you'll never find in a manual. :lwicon:

If you are still having problems downloading the videos, try this - it usually works with huge files (and I mean HUGE .. like > 1GB).
Note: IE 7.x or greater users only... :thumbsdow
1. Point your browser to : William's FTP Directory (ftp://ftp.newtek.com/multimedia/movies/w3dw/)
2. On your "Page" dropdown menu, click "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer"
3. Give it a few seconds to connect.
4. Copy/Paste files onto your local system.
Note that the "Page" menu is actually on your toolbar, not the standard file menu.
Hope this helps.
And Like Norman said, your browser may not be "stuck". It's simply downloading the entire file before it begins to play. .MOV files don't stream like .WMV's and others.

Nothing like it, i watched some 3ds Max modeling tuts, which i can't use since i'm on a Mac, just to see how they do things. I had to laugh everytime they had to open the system calculator app to do simple math.
Not to mention the fact that a lot of things that we can do in one click in LW takes several in Max. No wonder LW is recognized as a fast modeling application:thumbsup:

It's funny, if you use the Add Points tool on the top of your model (In the Back view, at least), you have to add or select them from left to right for it to work.
If you do it on the bottom of your model, it has to be reverse, i.e., right to left, or you get a closed polygon within.
On the left side of the model, the selection order has to be bottom to top, and the right side, top to bottom.
In this attached image, everywhere where the polygons are overlapping is where I did the opposite of the above. it works great as long as you draw or select them in the opposite order, if you get weird results.
Thanks! Another great tutorial! And yet another thing I learned today about Modeler which I hadn't known before. :)

I was going crazy - soooo glad you posted this. I really need to remember to select points in the opposite order when I get strange results. Thank you!!
