View Full Version : Screamernet problem with Lightwave 9.3.1 upgrade

I've just upgraded 9.3 to 9.3.1 and tried network rendering a scene that worked fine with 9.3. All of the node computers except the one Lightwave is installed on render an essentially blank frame. The batch files in those nodes clearly show that the plugins aren't being loaded. This is hypervoxel-intense scene.
I had installed the upgrade directly over the 9.3 installation. I then checked all the paths, config files and so forth to make sure they referenced the network drive. In layout, under "Edit Plugins", I rescanned the plugin directory - which seemed to be the solution when I had the same problem with earlier versions.
I can't figure out what I'm missing. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the path to the plugins on the nodes is incorrect... my guess is you need to check the plugin paths in the config file on the nodes, or the path to the config files themselves is incorrect, so it can't find the config files. If you're on the Mac, check out Mastering LightWave ScreamerNet on Mac OS X (http://dreamlight.com/insights/10/welcome.html), if you're on Windows it's probably a little different, but the concepts are all the same...

Hey Mike,
Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Your comment about the "config file on the nodes" pointed me directly to the problem. As I had performed the upgrade directly over the previous installation, it didn't occur to me to replace the "programs" folder on the nodes with the upgraded "programs" folder from the host. Back when I upgraded from 9.0 to 9.3, I did it as a separate installation and set up the nodes from scratch. I should have realized what had happened. Thanks for providing the catalyst.
