I am using slightly retarded little brother of the M6300.

The XPS.

It works great.

With a 2.4 and the better graphics card you will not be disapointed.

The bigger question for you is not the hardware, but the OS.

I am using XP Pro 32. All shlts and giggles here.

I do understand. Right now on my destop I'm also using Windows XP Pro (32).
For the mobile workstation I was thinking Vista Prem or Ultim 64.
