In Max, one can select edges and then ctrl+drag them to create new polys. I was amazed when I saw how easy and fun it was. I really like that style of modelling and I'm trying to do it in LW now. I saw something like that in hand modelling tut at Newtek but its hard to tell by video how its done.
It seems like he selects edge points, drags them, copys, then Undo- to move them back to original location. Next he pastes copied points, this creates new set of points. Now the tough part... If he creates new polys by selecting each 4 points and presses P, then that looks like a huge amount of work.
I'm probably getting it all wrong... But then how?
The basic idea is to model by adding polys to extend surface.
Majority of good tutorials are about box modeling, but I dont like it that much.
Heres a little image to illustrate what I'm talking about.
