I'm not sure that this could be considered a sketch but hey why not. This is something I did for my girlfriend on Valentine's day last year. It's actually drawn using Lightwave. Basically it's splines used for the lines and PS for the coloring.

Forgot to mention - I'm pretty sure I used Vue Infinite for the BG.

Q: Splines by themselves will render? I had not considered that.

No, actually they need to be Extruded to create a 2-point poly-chain. Then they will render as lines. It's kind of fun drawing with them, you get these cool smooth shapes.
