I have finally figured out how to make a composite image and have made my first try at it, using a little creature I've made earlier. I just composited it on a default windows XP wallpaper.

Those are some of the most photoreal leaves I've ever seen...
Looks good.
To my eye, the light along the left side of the hershey's kiss could be a bit more orange and some of your edges could be slightly softer (look at the edges of the big branch in the upper left), but to the non-critical eye I'd say its works.

i am working on an animation now. animations always look more believable i think. i will post it when done.
