Whenever I used FPrime running on Vista 64, Layout would crash when exiting. I have disabled "super fetch" memory management and now Layout doesn't crash with FPrime.
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services ->Superfetch -> set it to Disabled
:)
Not sure it's wise to disable that but I did and I am still crashing. :(

Ok,ok, it might be something else I did with Vista,
I did steps 4,6,7,10,11,14,15 from the following link:
http://www.4neurons.com/other/Vista/tips.html
Restart.
So it must be one of them. Just to be sure, this solves Layout exit crash with the scenes with FPrime used in it. It doesn't solve FPrime crashing during render.
Yep, just checked a scene with FPrime, it works great and it doesn't crash upon exit. It was so annoying. I am so happy I finally got rid of it. Tell me if it works for you with these steps.
I am using 32 bit LW on 64 bit Vista.
If you disable Superfetch then the memory management will act the same way as it did in Windows XP. If you have this on Vista will allways fill the entire RAM with something that it thinks you could most probably use but it isn't so clever. And it allways loads something from the hard drive in that case even if you're not doing anything.
Cheers,
Boris
P.S. I also have trouble with some programs crashing when they try to open file dialog window ( Open, Save, Save As commands do that) so if somebody has a fix for that please let me know.
