Hello - I ran a search on this board and didn't find any actual pertinent info (please link if I missed it) and the boards on HDRILabs don't really seem to address the issue either, so.. How exactly does one use Blochi's sIBL loader LW plug-in? When I start the plug from Utilities->Generic Plugins, it brings up a generic file requester. No idea what file it's requesting. Then it - apparently - asks for the location of the Layout executable, then says "Sorry, I can't work with that..."

WTF? Any hints? The HDRILabs board has a post where Blochi states he's written a quick start guide, but there's no guide attached, no links, no nothing. And I can't find it on Blochi's site either.

It's asking for the location of the SIBL libraries, if you place them in your content folder and then point the loader to them it should work fine.

I'm having problems as well, where does one get those libraries from?
Thanks for the help so far.

Didn't it come with some? I'm sure mine did!

Anyway, they have a set for download each month (free) which is very nice of them:

Other collections can be downloaded from the forum:

You should buy the book too, it has a load of collections on there too, just ordered mine to support the great work that Blochi does for the LW community.

Thanks for the info Matt - that got it working. I'm planning on ordering the book once I get a little extra cash lying about...

Thanks Matt, and you're right I will buy Blochi's new HDRI book,he's given so many cool plugins to the community over the years. I can't go without his add plane plugin he created years ago.

Just tripped over this ... and you're bringing up a good point.

Apparently you have your Alerlevel in Expert mode, which is suppressing the Info popup with the instructions what its looking for. Gets on my list.

Regarding the quick guide, there used to be an older one, but I sort of abandoned it in favor of an inline help. But then again, if you're stuck on install, this won't help much...

one more vote in support of buying the book. the stuff you learn, and you will learn a ton!, is both interesting on its own and presented to improve you as an artist.

you say a technical manual can't be written by an artist for artists? wrong-o:D

Thanks,

Back on the original subject, this should be fixed in the new version.
This one should (hopefully) fix the startup problems that appeared on some machines (64bit and OSX PPC), and it also makes sure the warning messages are not suppressed. Overall, about 30 stability fixes.

Just to keep things interesting, I've thrown in a new feature as well: Filtering and Search capabilities. That should help you find just the right sIBL in your ever-growing collection.

BTW - filtering and search are really the same feature: When you make a selection from the pulldown menu it just issues a keyword search across everything. Including the Comments, so they can be used as a tag cloud when making a sIBL set.

Enjoy!
