View Full Version : Render time same as video length?

Hey, I've been noticing that with speededit in VT4 and in VT5 my renders are taking the exact same amount of time as the length of the video.

I have a server board with multiple SATA and IDE drives (a lot of drives, trust me!), as well as two dual-core CPUs at 3GHz, and they don't seem to be maxed out. The cpus are running at about 50% during a render of an NT25 video, and the hard drives don't seem to be totally maxed out, based on reading the light (I know, not an accurate hard drive speed indicator). I've even tried to render them as H.264 and no change in render times.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I was hoping that with VT5 it would go away. It's weird, because the videos don't render any faster than a 1x speed, but no slower either. Any idea why it won't render faster, but exactly 1x?

Others may have some input, but 1:1 is all I've gotten, and NT25 is mine in most cases as well. I'm testing tmpg .VTP this A.M. instead of rendering in VT5.

I've often wondered why a Cache file could not be renamed and saveAs, but then suppose this has other uses than just the timeline data.

I think Eugene has said he gets 2:1 renders somehow.

Sounds like you have some nice systems.

GoodLuck

Well, in VT[4] there was a preference you had to change to render faster than real-time.

Check to be sure you have "Preview rendering on output" disabled.
